just got some 'Beach House' tunes. awesome! reminds me a LOT of Fleet Foxes and Band of Horses (I think fans of Mazzy Starr and Mojave 3 will also recognize the sound). sweet mellow, but not syrupy, alt-pop. highly recommended.

If you want some similar music, try checking out some other dream pop/shoegaze bands like My Bloody Valentine, Slowdive, Asobi Seksu, etc.

I've liked what I've heard on their recordings, but my first exposure to them was live (the opened up for one of my favorite bands, The Clientele)...and they go down in history as the more boring live band I have ever seen. Felt like two insufferable hipsters screwing around in their basement with a casio keyboard. BUT...they sound like a different band on recordings. Their performance really turned me off but then I warmed up to them again after hearing what they could do. Maybe it was just a bad night for them.

Even on their "Devotion" studio effort, I get that feeling on occasion. Still, I really enjoy their dreamy, slightly trippy, low-fi sound.

Plus, I have a high tolerance for hipsters (see, e.g., the Velvet Underground's John Cale).
