Is it possible/practical to input a tape cassette into the sound card's mike input and burn a CD ??

The G-kids have a few cassettes that they want to put on CD, and am wondering if this is possible. High quality isn't an issue, as the CD's will be played on Boom Boxes.

I have MS Media Player as the main music prog., but am aware that there are others out there as well.

I've done it, using an Alesis Masterlink, but it's the same process...once you've loaded each side of the tape, you crop the individual tracks. Burn a CD, and then if you want/need, you can also convert to MP3 and go through the tag edits.

Wait, I didn't see the "Mic input" part. You can easily overload that type of input with a cassette deck, use a "Line input" instead.

Hmmm..Can I do it with a USB input?? I wonder if I can use my XM-5 headphone amp/DAC as an input to the PC instead of an output.

I'll check with the mfr. to ask if that's possible
