What would be the most effective form of isolating this tt.
Presently my tt stands on three creamic cones and the undercover board still in place.
Kindly share your experiences and on your choice.

Cheers

Easy, its a Target TT-1 wall shelf. Park in on one of those and consider it isolated.

I don't get it....... :dunno:

How can you consider a TT totally isolated by mounting it on a wall?

Walls almost always vibrate more than a floor, or a shelf sitting on the floor. Not to mention that most walls are made of drywall that flex and vibrate at even the lowest of volumes.

I'm sorry, I'm not saying anybody is wrong. I'm just trying to understand the logic behind the whole "shelf on wall" concept.

I know that having my TT sit directly on the concrete floor and only 5 or 6 inches away from one of my speakers, I have never had it pick up any noise or anything from the speaker. And I have had it playing quite loud at times! :dunno:

Your fortunate to have a concrete floor to mount your table on. With my old house and springy hardwood floors my Linn Sondek was literately unplayable. Since a rearrangement of the equipment, the Linn now sits on a shelf created by a bay window which sits on a concrete sill. Very stable. Sounds better than it ever did.

I believe that the reason wall mounting is better is due to the direct of vibration. On the floor the vibration is in line with the springs causing them to move. On the wall it's 90 deg. to movement. Much more stable.

Neuance platform is the best thing I've found. Keeping with the Linn requirement of being light in mass and stiff and it doesn't matter which way you choose, be it wall mount or table top. The platform is about two hundred bucks and is only available through Neuance. Ken Lyon is the owner/inventor/builder of these platforms and is a great guy to deal with as well. I have heard many crazy ideas about Sondek platforms and most all of them sound like dog sh*t. This is the real thing. If your anywhere near Detroit I would be happy to give you a listen. I have no affiliation with Neuance or Ken, besides being just a satisfied customer.

Happy Listening! :beatnik:

As you were writing your post Zoe, Ken had already shut down his business :(! Can I vouch for the Neuance platform? You bet, I have 5 of them myself. If you can find one used, go for it. His website is still up so you can still get info on how to use them. One of the screaming audio bargains of all time!
