View Full Version : Slow shipping out rant
gearhound 04-09-2009, 08:00 AM WTF is it with some e-bay sellers!!??
You pay them Johnny-on-the-spot, and then they pick their nose for a week or more, before deciding to DO YOU A FAVOR, and ship out YOUR goods!?
I just went off on some guy this morning for that!
Totally a waste of time for sure.....but....it certainly made ME feel better!

Brett a 04-09-2009, 09:15 AM As a person who has a fairly busy life, i can understand a private individual taking a work week to get something out. I have to drive 10 miles round trip on my lunch hour to ship something out. Not every day goes in a way that allows me to do this-it can take a few.
On the other hand, if a person is running a full time business of selling on eBay, then I hold them to a different standard and expect quicker service.
All that said, I always want to check myself whenever I start to feel entitled to convenience. As a good friend once said "There are rich peoples' problems"
gearhound 04-09-2009, 09:36 AM My BIG problem with him, is that he sent me an e-mail, saying that he WOULD ship it out on April 3.
He however, did NOT ship it out until April 9?
I NEVER received an e-mail concerning the delay.
NOT someone I would buy from again.

Ahh, now that's not cool.
toxcrusadr 04-09-2009, 09:44 AM Yeah, that's annoying.
I just sold an item (piece of exercise eqpt.) and promptly sent the winner an invoice within a day. She didn't respond back for 48 hours (now 3 days after auction end) so I emailed to see if she got my invoice. She's moving and doesn't know between 3 states where to ship it. WTF? She says she'll know by Saturday, and I'm out of town anyhow so I can't ship it anyway after today. Whatever. So you get it going both ways. :dunno:
gearhound 04-09-2009, 09:44 AM "Entitled to a convenience".....with MY property!?
Bullshit!!
I didn't take a week to pay him?
Private individual or not, if an e-bay seller cannot find his/her way to a Post Office in over a week.....they are just plain inconsiderate and/or lazy!
Steve
Twenty20Man 04-09-2009, 10:08 AM i agree with what everyone has said, but the bottom line for me..did i get it, was is damaged in any way, is it what i thought it would be..if everything has its yes and no's in the right spots i am very forgiving..
240sx4u 04-09-2009, 10:14 AM Same situation with a set of wheels I bought from a seller. Paid on Saturday he assured me they would ship monday and was pissy with me when I asked WTF was going on wed! For gods sake people....
toxcrusadr 04-09-2009, 12:29 PM Last week I gave away (or thought I did) 4 cheap speakers to a kid on Freecycle who said he wanted to become a dj and could/would do the woofer foams himself. Arranged for him to meet me at work. Brought them 15 miles from storage, transferred to another vehicle, drove them another 38 miles and he never showed up. Never emailed, called, nothing. It's amazing what people are thinking/not thinking.
avionic 04-09-2009, 01:24 PM What really jerks my chain is "mediamail" It is usually cheaper and quicker to use "First class"...At least for CD's and LP's anyway. What is suppose to be the advantage of mediamail.:headscrat

Media Mail IS less expensive for parcels over 8 ounces, and First class is not available for packages over 13 ounces.
But Media Mail is slower.
I use it for LPs as it cuts down on the cost, which is proportionally very high on an LP. but if the buyer wants to pay more, I'll ship it however they want. I just quote the least expensive service for them.
walkandtalk 04-09-2009, 01:37 PM I'm currently waiting for a couch to be delivered. I was in the store last Sunday, and talked with the salesman about getting it delivered. He handed me the card of a fellow the shop recommends, and told me I'd have to arrange it myself. I called the fellow, and we discussed the transaction. Monday morning, I went in and bought the couch, and I called the delivery guy from inside the store. He said he'd have to deliver it after 6pm, which struck me as odd (I assumed he was a full-time delivery guy).
My mistake? Being a nice guy myself, I told him I didn't really need the couch until Friday (family coming in for the holiday weekend), and here it is 2:30 Thursday afternoon and he still hasn't delivered the couch. How close do ya'll think he's going to cut it? If it doesn't show up tonight, at least I'll have my Dad and Bro-in-law to help me move it tomorrow...

OK..I'll go that far..But then there are those that charge enough S/H for first class and ship it on a slow boat ( mediamail) ..that really steams me..:smoke:
Just a few weeks ago I picked up a LP on that auction site. ( Tom Newman--Bayou Moon ) I pay with paypal minutes after auction is completed..Get a message that " We will ship in 7-10 business days via ....MEDIAMAIL......:yikes::yikes: I finally got the LP close to 3 weeks later..The only saving grace was -- Vinyl (mint) cover (VG+).....
geespot 04-09-2009, 04:55 PM The last 4 out of 5 things I bought, the sellers did not communicate anything with me. One seller had the balls to send me a tracking number, that I requested, 2 days after receiving the package and then wondering why I gave them a neutral feedback with a remark about total lack of communication.
