I see alot of you buy records from the thrift shops and find amazing bargins on awesome Lp's, which is really good. But I don't have the opportunity to do that here in a small city in New Zealand.
My one and only place to find LP's worthy of buying is on ebay.uk. So I don't really stumble across anything like you guys, hence the "hunt" for the albums I want and don't have yet, I have a list and just go by that( constantly adding to it)
AND I go for just that one at a time til I have the one I think is right for me. This can take a few weeks, auctions can really suck:yes: cause you usually get beaten at the last minute and not being made of money can't keep bidding:sigh: Two LP's in particular that took me ages to score were Electric Ladyland(with the naked ladies) and Tommy(with the limited edition numbered booklet). They were well worth the wait and "The Hunt":thmbsp:
Have you guys been in the hunt for any albums?
Thanks Daza:music:

Nice score. I'd like to have that Jimmy LP just for the jacket... I didn't know the book in the Tommy was anything special.. Mine has a number on it too if I remember right..

You know how they say dont send money to Somalia for famine relief, send luggage so they can get the hell out of there?
If you've got no resources for album hunts.... you need a suitcase. :D
When Im "out and about" looking around for albums I dont look for anything in particular because it ALL comes up. The condition is the issue.
I usually look for better Herb Alperts but Ive got all Perfect copies now. Just found the Christmas Album perfect today. When I say perfect I mean still in the cellophane also. That was fun while it lasted.
Next Id have to say I look for Motown, Soul, Jimmy Hendricks, Ray Charles.
No individual ones though cause I know It'll turn up. Just in General.
You guys have no garage sales or Estate Sales even?

One poster had what I thought was a brilliant idea (which I plan to try myself). He posted a "wanted to buy" ad in his local newspaper and found some fantastic buys that way. You can build your own used market that way!

You can build your own used market that way! What a great idea, I also did this years ago with surfboards wanted and ended up with some very nice and very collectable longboards for practically next to nothing people just didn't know what they had, and I guess will apply to records people will probably say "got no use for them, with no turntable to play them on" I think your on to something there:yes: Thanks:thmbsp:

I live for the hunt. Like most of you I don't really look a anything in particular. I just keep my eyes open for jazz and classic rock and I am rarely ever disappointed.

No record sources in New Zealand? If you ever want to come on a buying trip to Hong Kong, I can take you around to several places places and show you 50,000 to 100,000 LPs for sale, 30,000 in one place alone. Enough to keep you busy for quite a few days just flipping through them.
Save up the bucks, come once for a week or so, and ship back a pallet-load or two, or even a whole container load. Then you'll never have to "hunt" again, but can just sit back and spend the rest of your life listening to what you've bought!

You can even pick from a range of RCMs while you are here, to take back and clean all the records ... and get a record flattener, if you like!
:D
[Wish I could afford to buy like that! But I have enough fun looking for the good one or two "special" LPs here and there in the shops, and snapping up cheap bulk buys elsewhere!]
