Hi Buddies !!
Finally i got my Dat Fostex
All seems to be fine, but except for one thing;
I put a previously recorded tape on it and play ..... the sound is very low but fine
Next i try to record from a Fostex and then ...play,,,,,again low volume in PLAY MODE

Next i decide playing that tape recorded with the Fostex in Panasonic SV 3700 and it sounds fantastic !!
I need to Know: is fostex´s head dirty ? i mean the play head
Why sounds so low ?
thanks !!!

The problem is not a dirty head.. Can you be more specific about the low playback. Does the meter show low level on PB? Are line out and headphone out both low?

Hi Peludito,

Got your message. How do the digital meters of the two DATS compare when you play back the same tape. In other words, is the meter on the Fostex showing a low level? Or is the level just low on the output jacks.

hi Cadillac kid, the meters are right, only the sound is low, but by headphones is ok !!!

Did you flip the little switch in the back for in/out level?

The user guide is available for free download, btw.

Hmmm..... XLR to XLR, or XLR to RCA??

You may need a matchbox if going to RCA.
