Howdy.

Curious if anybody has replaced their Systemdek (or other deck) motor with the Origin Live motor that's supposed to work for pretty much any belt drive Linn/Systemdek type table. If so, was it a great improvement? The motor in my Systemdek is on it's last legs and I like the table enough to put some money in it.

Thank you,
j

You sure it's not the cap/resister combo?

It appears to be a bearing problem...the shaft wobbles, slightly, audible from a couple feet away from the deck.

All motors have either bearings or bushings, and will wear out eventually.

I'm not faulting the Systemdek, it's old and even though the motor is going, it still sounds good (but it's getting worse). I have just heard great things about the Origin Live and was wondering if it got the same accolades from people here, who's opinion I trust more.

Well, the deck is definitely worth a new motor, whether you decide to go DC or not. Obviously, replacing the stock motor is the cheapest route to take, but the DC upgrade does have appeal.

A friend has a IIX with a modified Linn Valhalla for motor drive. It sounds very good with a hot-rodded RB250.
