Surfing the CD channel on Dish Network, I stopped on the Jazz Traditions locale hearing a nice sounding tune called "Advance Notion" on the Hi Voltage LP by Hank Mobley.

Anyone else a fan of his work & style?

Hello Rome!! Good Stuff
I have Hank Mobley's Soul Station & Hank Mobley and his All Stars. I a big Jazz Messengers fan. The talent that came out of that band were incredible!! :thmbsp:

Soul Station is Mobley's most famous set, and deservedly so. Hi Voltage and Caddy For Daddy are faves of mine. But almost any Blue Note Mobley session is worth picking up, and there are quite a few of them.

If you ever come across copies of Curtain Call or Poppin, grab them- just as good as any of his more common recordings, but very hard to find for some reason..

I just got into him a few weeks ago , great player , got a 2 lp 1976 pressing of "Messages" that's pretty great .

Just got 4, 5 & 6 by jackie Mclean which Hank plays on .

I have also been listening to a ton of Freddie Hubbard's stuff & Wayne shorter , just great , great music ! most of that Blue note & prestige stuff is really good .

I visited a local record store recently and there was a number of Hank's records. I will revisit to check for the uncommon ones.

I returned and there remained only one Mobley: CEDAR WALTON/HANK MOBLEY QUINTET: BREAKTHROUGH. I bought this and luckily found a SEALED vinyl of JOHN COLTRANE'S BLUE TRAIN. The latter I grabbed without hesitation.
