I was listening to "The Allman Brothers - Live At Fillmore East" yesterday. I was looking at the photos in the liner notes and noticed the stereo didn't match the photos. What I'm saying is the keyboard, guitar and vocal soundstage didn't match the photos. Here is where it gets strange... not sure if it has something to do with the visual and audio link we have in our brain, but my brain made the stereo correct. What I mean is, when I closed my eyes to visualize the stereo and imaging effect, I could not get it out of my head that the recording was made just a little bit behind the band facing the crowd. Mind mind visually put me on stage between the two drummers facing the audience. This is the only way the imaging made sense in my head according to the pictures. Am I crazy?? I have a switch on my amp that can transpose the stereo from R/L to L/R but it was set to normal. I know it's common for old "film" negs to be flopped during pre-press. I guess I am amazed my brain made a correction just from a photo. Even when I switched it to opposite stereo, it just didn't seem correct. It's official... I'm nutzzzz!!!
