View Full Version : AK Fest Swap Room NO LONGER in Danger of Cancellation
Mopic5 04-15-2009, 08:30 AM Right now, as far as I know, only me and Andyman have signed up for tables in the swap rooms at AK Fest '09. Unless there are at least, a couple of others signing up, Grumpy has let it be known that the Swap room(s) may be cancelled for this years' Fest.
Don't let this happen!:nono:
The swap room(s) have been a long, fun-filled tradition at the Fest and a great place to meet folks and get great deals on records, tapes and gear. If you've been setting on piles of projects or vinyl that you know, in your heart of hearts, that you'll never really get to, consider purchasing a table ($50) so that you can clear out and spread the audio wealth.
To move this process along, I will commit to contributing 25% of all my table's sales to AudioKarma. With offerings like hundreds of clean records at a buck each, sets of phono clips also for a buck and marble slabs for $10, there really is no profit margin at play here. This is to help keep a tradition alive.
(I understand that this post may soon be moved over to the AK Fest forum - but I hope to get a little more exposure in this heavy traffic forum before it does.)

Markus111 04-15-2009, 02:26 PM Guys,
I have loads of stuff I could bring and I'd love to buy a table, but I can't staff both the swap room and my listening room. Is anyone full time in the swap room who would be so kind as to watch my stuff if I got a table?
Thanks,
Mark
Mopic5 04-15-2009, 03:38 PM Hi Mark,
Probably, yes. If you've got everything marked at a no haggle price, and I can send folks down to your listening room with any questions.... Take it that you'll be there for the load in Friday night?
- Mario
slow_jazz 04-15-2009, 03:45 PM You could just setup a table in the hallway with stuff for sale.

Not sure that'll pass muster with the Fire Marshall.
MarkAnderson 04-15-2009, 04:21 PM I have a pile of shit I need to unload. If I knew I could get it up there safely, I'd commit...
Anyone got a camper shell to fit a short-bed Chevy they could email down here?

Sorry but that we cannot allow.

That would be no problem to mark things properly, and yes - I will definitely be there on Friday. I had a swap table two years running in the old hotel, and it was pretty easy to manage along with a listening room. I wasn't so sure in the new place, so I didn't sign up. But if it's ok with Dave and you, Pete, and Andy, I'd love to contribute to the big 'ol pile of stuff. Thanks for your offer!
Mark
grumpy 04-15-2009, 08:15 PM No problem Markus. I will update the list and we can settle up on the cost in the future.

Go to walmart and get a 10 dollar tarp and 20 bungee cords. Hell, that's how a real redneck would do it anyhow. (just sayin)
Mopic5 04-16-2009, 08:43 AM We're On! Thanks to Mark & Pete! :thmbsp:

I got all that covered. But $10 tarps don't hold together too well at 80mph.

MarkAnderson 04-16-2009, 11:18 AM Brilliant, Ray! I don't know what I was thinking. :D
ozmoid 04-16-2009, 09:27 PM If Justen's got a spare motorcycle suit and helmet, I'll be glad to ride in the back and let the gear have my seat.
Heck fire, might even be safer back there since Anderson's driving... :scratch2: Thanks, Ray!
