Do not open the box on your porch containing MoFi John Lennon - Imagine and Neil Youngs Greatest Hits 2lp from Classic.

Thought that I would try out just one song just to get a taste. Mistake.

Hey Hey My My= Mindblowingly clear melt your face off ultra distorted guitar.

It sounds great. I had previously bought the MoFi Plastic Ono Band which I thought sounded a little better, but I'm not knocking Imagine at all. I couldn't get the smile off of my face while listening to I Don't Want to Be a Soldier.

There are some moments on the Plastic Ono Band where the vocals really are beautifully haunting that I didn't find on Imagine. I've only listened to it once though.

The Neil Young is definitly the record I would reach for if I wanted to show someone how good vinyl can sound.

I have twice as much crap to do tonight because I blew it off last night, but I really want to listen to them again.

Restraint!

Also, I can't understand why Neil Young is never on those best guitarists list I keep seeing.

i've seen him on a few, rolling stone had him at #83. he should have been alot higher imo, but i've seen him really high up on a big publication i can't recall, but it might have been guitarworld.

... probably because of the solos he played on Southern Man & Cinnamon Girl. Plus, he's never really been impressive as a picker on anything. His singing and songwriting are what he's really known for.
