How do these two stack up on:

Overall sound, bass, imaging, etc...?

FM tuner quality? I need a good tuner and the 2270 seems to be struggling with the stations I need.

Restorability factor. Is this a bear to work on or no different than the others in the 22xx line?

2275 sounds better = larger main filter caps, improved amplifier boards, (better looking unit) I have two 2270s and one 2275

I can't imagine there is a huge difference but I prefer the 2275 (see avatar).

The 2270 is a better built unit IMHO, less caps to replace, less wire wrap connections and an older design. It also has a more "warm" sound compared to the newer units you have in your signature. But it does not like a 4 ohm load at high volumes. With a good alignment, both the 2270 and 2275 should perform rather well in the FM section.

However, the 2275 is also extremely well built. I wouldn't kick either to the curb.

My recommendation if you want that power range, 2285b. Its everyone's mid power level favorite.

I asked the same question a couple of years ago. The "expert" consensus was towards the 2275. I eventually got one. It's hard to find any fault with the 2275, great performer all around.
