G'day all, I've heard about suposedly 'new' Shure phono cartridges going by the model numbers S-10 and GS-30, if I've got that right.
I can't find anything about them on the 'net except for the odd picture and that's all. Does anybody know anything about them? Regards, Felix aka catman.

There are photos and prices at turntableneedles.com, but no other information.
http://www.turntableneedles.com/Shure-gs-30_p_2451.html -- $257.95, has HE on the stylus assembly. Photo says copyright 2006.

Things are a little confusing.
The information at turntableneedles.com implies a new cartridge with a waiting list.
However, lpgear.com carries an aftermarket replacement for both the GS-30 and S-30 cartridges. I would hardly think there would be an aftermarket stylus available for a new cartridge waiting to hit the market.
And this link http://www.toenne-online.de/Dual/discontinued_styli.pdf shows both cartridges as discontinued as of 2004.
Bummer!

Yep, it's nothing new. And even if it were, it wouldn't be anything to get excited about.

Dave, I think the waiting list feature on that site refers to previously carried items currently out of stock. I know it is true for one of the entry-level Goldring/Tenoral phono cartridges they sell.
All the best,
Keith
That GS-30 seems to belong to the SDS models and to be equipped with the NDS-HE needle - imo quite overpriced for almost 260 bucks at TTN...
