Folks:

The next SMAC meeting will be held at Jim's place on Saturday, May 30th. As usual, for those that have attended meets at Jim's in the past this one is not to be missed. See my email for system details.

Fritz speakers will be visiting and bring his Carbon 7 monitors for a demo. Should be pretty cool.:thmbsp:

Hope to see you there.

Jeff

Bring music if you like and also your favorite beverage. Most times you don't have to but you may not like what is provided.

Come with an open mind...we're a bunch of cantankerous bastards. No drinking or smoking allowed. And none of that friggin' pussy music. :D

Seriously though, just bring yourself, a couple of records and be prepared to enjoy.

I am planning to go ... be glad to take a passenger or two. I am at M-59 and Telegraph (Pontiac/Waterford/Bloomfield).

No particular vinyl to bring, but I did just get Tierney Sutton's 2007 release "On the Other Side" in SACD ... very nice! Is digital an option?

Digital is indeed an option BUT as far as I know the AMR CD77 is just CD, no SACD capability. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Jeff

Which reminds me....if you guys don't know what this stuff is you need to do some googling (believe me it's worth researching...not trying to be coy here):

Turntable: SME 30/2, Graham Phantom, Jan Allerats
Turntable: Technics SP 10 Mk II, SME V, Premium Mono
CD Player: AMR CD-77
RTR Tape: Technics RS 1500 set up for Tape Project
Preamp: CTC Blowtorch preamp with Vendetta phono
Phonostage #2: Klyne phono
Amps: Atma-sphere MA-1
Amps: Parasound JC-1
Speakers: SoundLabs M-1

I may be missing this one guys. I've got one daughter graduating high school in 10 days, family coming in, and another one's birthday tomorrow, so I've got more honey-dos than Produce Palace...

Sorry, wife is working so I have my son with me. Also, it is over an hour away for me, and several home projects to do. Will try to make the next one.

Somebody play some Miles Davis, Tim Weisberg, or Return To Forever for me. and don"t bash Cerwin Vega too much....hahahahaha:banana:

Once again, a stunning meet Jim. Thanks so much for all your hard work in putting this on. At one point I counted 32 people.:thmbsp: There may have been more.

Nice to have a separate (sort of) listening room where folks could actually listen to tunes. There were a few times I popped in when, despite having 10 or so folks gathered, there wasn't a single person talking. That's a testament to the quality of your system.

And a Tape Project Technics and Tape Project tapes! Cool stuff. :tresbon:

Had a great time Jim. Thanks for hosting. I couldn't stay as long as I would have liked, but had a great time while there. As always, you system sounded great.....however, at some point when I was in the sweet spot, I fell asleep. I only do that when I am totally comfortable with my surroundings. Cheers.

Did somebody already say... WoW!? Most assuredly, Jim IS the man! Thank you Jim and your wife for another outstanding outing. The whole day was just super, and that digital rig surprised the heck out of me. Lovely sound, and I understand it has vacuum tube outputs, very nice. Maybe digital still has a chance. The analogue section sets a new SMAC standard in my mind and I kind of like those valve amps... what brand do ya say they are?...!

Happy (SMAC Meet) Listening! :beatnik:

Thanks, Jim, for letting our group of lunatics invade your space. You and your wife were excellent and gracious hosts. The pulled pork was delicious, as well.

As for your system, well, just WOW!

Thanks to all who made the journey and especially those who didn't give up after taking the Elba road exit. This year was even better than last with at least twice as many, including some great folks new to SMAC.
My wife reports 40lbs. of pulled pork consumed, so I think we'll stick with a winner for next year!
Thanks to David A. for bringing out his new Esoteric A-100 tube amp. for an audition -- drove the SoundLabs far better than I would have thought.
Also nice to have Fritz over with his speakers -- dual rooms kept the house rockin!
Thanks for all the system compliments and glad everyone seems to have had as much fun as I did having ya'll over. -- Jim
