View Full Version : More Audiokarma Fest reviews
grumpy 05-12-2009, 07:41 AM Ernie and I had the pleasure of spending some time with Mr Weaver at the fest. Have to say he is one heck of a nice guy and is just as passionate about audio as we are.

RichPA 05-12-2009, 09:39 AM Damn, wish I'd known - Greg Weaver used to work in an audio store here, helped me along the high-end path. Greg, if you're reading this, greetings from Happy Valley!

luvvinvinyl 05-12-2009, 08:05 PM Best of all, he really 'gets it'.
jimfet 05-12-2009, 08:29 PM I got to try harder and get there. Just spent a couple hours looking at the pics and reading reviews. It is also good to see some of the faces behind the avatars. Where is one of Toze? Haven't been to a show since the late 70's and those where CES and IHF shows. This would be more down to earth. Good to see there was no drinking going on.

:headscrat What pictures were you looking at?
I think after the official closing time every other person had a beer in their hand.
Tapehead47 05-12-2009, 09:12 PM As enjoyable as the article was he should have spent more time in members' rooms listening to AKers gear. That would have made it more interesting for sure!
Urizen 05-12-2009, 09:13 PM Nice article. He captured the essence of the Fest.
BrianB 05-12-2009, 09:39 PM I, too, really enjoyed the article, and feel that Greg Weaver did a great job of describing just what makes AK-Fest so special. Oh, and Greg just wrote me to say that he enjoyed the show so much that he is already planning on attending again next year. If you didn't get to meet him this time around, make it a point to do so in 2010 - Greg is a terrific guy!
luvvinvinyl 05-12-2009, 09:44 PM Brian, you got a great write-up. I was glad to see that. I was glad, too, to see that your room system settled in so nicely. It did sound great on Sunday. You have every right to be proud.

Well, between you and me (and I guess everyone else here), I always feel a bit insecure going into these shows. I try hard to put together a synergistic and musical system each year - and I strive to bring something completely different each and every time - but all I really know before the show begins is that I've got a system and a sound that pleases ME. Thus, the positive feedback (no pun intended here) is always gratifying.
dokblues 05-12-2009, 11:20 PM WOW! Thats a Great review. I have got to be there next year for sure!! Even though I did not get to attend I would like to thank Dave and Ernie and the whole Crew for outstanding effort to put on such an obviously great event!

Go to Botrytis' photo album:http://www.audiokarma.org/forums/showpost.php?p=2721667&postcount=1
In the last picture, 'Toze is the guy on the left in a blue shirt and white hair. The guy accepting the $94 for the 50/50 drawing is me. :D

tentoze 05-13-2009, 07:06 AM That was an engaging and (for the most part) well-written piece.
