New music tuesday. I saw these guys open for JJ Grey and Mofro last September and they lit it up.

Hill Country Revue - Make A Move CD - 2009 release by this outfit formed by Cody Dickinson of the Grammy-nominated North Mississippi Allstars. Hill Country Revue represents a return to the juke-joint one-chord trance Blues of north Mississippi, styles made famous by local blues legends like R.L. Burnside and Junior Kimbrough. The majority of the material on Make A Move was written with one of Cody's oldest friends, Garry Burnside, the youngest of Blues legend R.L. Burnside's fourteen children. By drawing from the traditional songs and modes of the Hill Country, the band stays true to its roots yet pushes the boundary by incorporating new songs and elements for the next generation.

Chris Chew from NMAS plays bass. I can't remember the other guys he had in the band. Cody is the drummer in NMAS.

I saw these guys open for the North Mississippi All Stars a couple of times, they really are good. Cody Dickinson plays drums and Chris Chew plays bass, Garry Burnside and Kirk Smithhart play guitar and Dan Coburn sings. The last time I saw them (maybe 2 or 3 weeks ago) Luther Dickinson came out and played several songs with them, just a fantastic show all around. Hill Country Revue is not as good as the AllStars but absolutely worth seeing! Haven't heard the new album yet.

I love Mofro as well, saw them a couple of times over the last few months as well. Got to meet JJ Grey after one show, seemed like a decent dude.

Cool.

Got to meet both Cody and JJ after the last show I saw out in Portland OR. We already knew Chris from the Jam Cruise we have been on. He was a resident "talker" on one of them.
