Bought today for $5, what I believe to be an original 1st US pressing of CSNY's Deja Vu. Excellent condition both cover/record. The Atlantic label has the 1841 Broadway address and the cover is the very dark textured version with embossed gold lettering and glued on photo. Record is pressed on heavy vinyl and has the following matrix number.

ST-A-701829-C AT AB W

From what info I could gather online, the Matrix #s are identical to the White Label Promo issue, so I assume it's as early a pressing as I'm likely to find. I haven't had a vinyl copy of this album since I originally bought it back in 1970 and sadly sold it along with about 200 other albums from my youth to buy CDs.....I know, a big mistake! Got most back so that's a plus!
Anyway, this copy of Deja Vu sounds amazing! I haven't had the chance to compare it with some of the current crop of vinyl pressings, Canadian/UK or the MoFi release, but all I can say is, this one would be very hard to beat! It just seems everything is correct on this pressing. Anyone have additional info regarding this or other nice pressings of this great LP?

I have a minty fresh copy with the same dark brown embossed/pasted cover, but it has the 79 Rockefeller Plaza address and Side 1's matrix number ends in a "P" instead of a "C". Haven't played it yet.

75 Rockefeller pressings are from 1974 at the earliest... but might still sound good if you got the embossed cover.

Your post made me go pull out my thrift copy and it looks loike it is an early version as well. Mine is the same as yours but the Matrix# is ST A 701830 3B CTH. The LP is in good condition but the cover is excellent condition. I wish I had a source for easily determining which edition of LP I have. Some of the stuff i pick up in the thrifts is in such good condition that I have to believe they are re-issues.

Thanks for the replies regarding the Deja Vu pressings. A buddy of mine I talked to last night says he has the MoFi issue and a later 70's 19000 pressing that he'll bring over the next time we get together, so we can do a shoot out between the three. I heard that some later pressings can be quite good, in particular the GP, George Piros issues mastered at Sterling Sound with the SRC designation in the runout wax.
I have a few Yes LPs mastered by GP that sound great, so it'll be interesting to check the sound on one of those DVs as well. Not sure if my friend has a GP pressing or not, we'll see. Getting back to my copy, after doing some serious listening on my ARC tube based system, I can honestly say that this early/original pressing is with out a doubt one of the best sounding Classic Rock Era LPs that I own or have ever heard. It just jumps out and grabs you right from the opening track "Carry On", and doesn't let go thru the entire album!
I know that the term "tubey magic" has been used and sometimes abused to describe LPs that deliver a warm outstanding presence, soundstage and dynamics, and this particular pressing of Deja Vu has it in spades.....one of the few LPs from this era that I have found jaw dropping...literally! I can't wait to see my friends reaction when he hears it! I'll post the results of the other pressings when I get a chance to listen to them.
