a record i've always kept my eye out for has been Tonto's Expanding Headband. i guess when they hit the crates, the diggers grab 'em up, kinda like all known copies of 13th Floor Elevators, or the Velvet Underground.

i finally had a moment of brilliance and hit ebay, there to find a pristine original pressing for $15. i have a pretty good collection of the early to mid 70s all synth stuff--its one of my many genre fixations-- but this thing is head and shoulders above so much of it. absolutely original and almost completely independant of 70s conventions. and so well recorded!!

wow, what a genius recording!! highly recommended

You'll find more copies in the Cleveland OH area. WMMS used to play cuts on the radio! Bob Margouleff was Stevie Wonder's synth programmer (Superstition, etc), so you get an idea of his influences. It is original synth music as opposed to covers.

Sounds very intriguing. One more to add to the list of "keep an eye out for" records. Thanks!

I used to have a copy. Maybe I still do. With 4000 records things get buried.

They have 2 albums on vinyl. I doubt any CDs exist.

Great call, Shrinkboy - Been a fan of TEH for years - discovered them for myself at about the same time as Terry Riley ("Rainbow in Curved Air", "In C") and Beaver & Krause ("In a Wild Sanctuary", "Gandharva"). Some wonderful music from a time when it took a lot of (electronic) work to do what comes so much easier these days. "Tama" is a special favorite - like a reverie about a long-lost friend from other days. A track you can use to end late-night instrumental mixes...Ah, yes.
