Hey folks,
I just picked up this table. The manual features work perfectly, but there is some trouble in automatic mode. If anyone has any tips, or pointers to a service manual I would appreciate it!

First, when I click the auto start the arm jumps off before the rest is raised. Ending with the arm dangling off the record (cringe).

If I select "repeat" while the needle is in play and click the auto start switch, then the rest will raise and the arm will travel all the way back home and then to repeat to record, but the arm will travel past the beginning of the record and land in one of three places (determined by what I set the "size" knob to).

So, the arm is jumping off before the rest is raised, and the arm is cueing past the beginning of the record.

Thanks!
nick

Probably some moving parts are not moving, or not so freely due to dried lubricant. Service manuals have a lot of good info, but may not be that helpful in this situation. This site linked to below does have your manual(no affiliation):

I had this table for quite a while and loved it! But the Auto functions were very troublesome and after repairing it several times I just got fed up with it and pulled all the auto junk out of it and made it a fully manual table. Mine had the same problem of the auto start sending the arm a flying and I was able to fix it by lubing every thing, but it would still do it every once in a while. I think the parts were just worn out of spec so it never really worked right. After it bunged a stylus I took it down to a manual table, and have a dual running full auto duty.

Best of luck, Nick

I think the SR-535 is very similar to the SR-737 (would be logical that the mechanics are the same, with the main difference to be the quartz pll dd system). Therefore following thread could be of interrest to you:
