Hi all,

I am looking for good music (any genre, especially rock and fusion) featuring tons of ORGAN.

Some examples of organ-driven music I've been listening to a lot lately:

- Cressida
- Beggars Opera
- Quatermass
- Niacin
- Bo Hansson

Thanks,
Demetrio.

Jimmy Smith (jazz), Lee Michaels (rock), and if it's B3 through a Leslie you need, then anything with Ray Charles or Billy Preston will not disappoint, especially live.

The first Blondie lp has tons of great organ. And there is an amazing Elvis Costello bootleg from a '77 show that has the farfisa mixed way up front in the mix. Fantastic stuff.

Perhaps this is a stretch but...

Led Zeppelin's "In Through The Out Door" comes to mind. The question instantly made me think of "Carouselambra". Perhaps this would be better suited to synthesizer.

Medeski Martin and Wood is my favorite Organ Driven Good Music.

Check out Bubblehouse from the disc Shack Man, makes me feel like I am at a Roller Rink or 1960's strip club!

Hey, if you're going there, then Laurie Partridge wasn't bad, either.

Just checked her out on YouTube, pretty amazing organist. The videos showing her footwork on the pedals are really cool!

Will have to find some of her CD's.

If you dig this style of music you should be checking out Jimmy Smith's old Blue Note Jazz Stuff.

I was surprised to see two mentions of Lee Michaels so early in this thread. I thought he was a little under the radar. Michaels has a self-titled studio album that is essentially live - it was recorded in one day. One side is a medley, on the other he has a cover of "Stormy Monday" that is wild.

Another standout piece of organ music that I've heard and am yet to find locally if from a collection of Otis Clay live in Japan. There is an organ solo that steals the show.

Regards,

D-Ray
