my favorite band since middle school, just wondering if any one had bought the remasters that robin guthrie did a few years back and what you thought of them vs the original 4ad issues?

Nope. Still have several original 4AD vinyl LPs, listen to them often, the old 4AD albums have an excellent sound quality (IMO).

Yep, 4AD vinyl is usually a good bet. I may have heard a clunker or two over the years, but IIRC that may have had more to do with the band(s) (as in me not liking their music) than the production or finish of the vinyl specimen.

Agreed, 4AD albums are usually solid bets. I usually steer clear of re-masters but maybe I'll give these a try . . . the latest New Order CD remaster of Low Life was a real treat.

Haven't heard these, but I agree the original vinyl is tops. "Heaven or Las Vegas" is a great example of that, a wonderful album very well mastered. I do have the recent vinyl repress of "Head Over Heels" and I'm very happy with that.

I have either the original 4AD or CDs here. I have enjoyed most of Robin Guthrie and Harold Budd's releases since the demise of CT.
