...Dave Brubeck entered the studio to begin the recording sessions for 'Time Out' (or so NPR tells me). An amazing man, still chugging along at 89.

The NPR story also reminds me to replace my long-lost album.:scratch2:

cool music from an era that's (mostly) awfully pleasant to remember.

"Time Out" is my favorite jazz album. It had a profound effect on my appreciation of music.

Good video.
I have the 45 of "Take Five" in my record cabinit, but now this latest CD might join it.
Think I might give the 45 a spin later.
Thanks for posting. James

When I was about 19(back in '82), my boss at an audio shop that I worked at, took me under his wing and turned me onto a bunch of stuff that 19 year olds were just not listening to. (Usually over beers and on his monster audio system.) One of them was Brubeck's "Time Out."

Who would have thought nerds with cat-eye glasses and suits could sound so damn cool!!

One of THE albums of all time--with a fantastic line-up (Joe Morello being one of my drumming heroes). This jazz LP I place with "Kind of Blue" and "Getz a Go Go" and others.

With all that's happening in the entertainment world this is further proof to my theory that slow and steady wins the race.
