I thought it might be good to have a thread to log some of the phenomena of skyrocketing LP and CD prices in the wake of MJ's death.---Keep it separate from the appreciation/mourning/criticisms threads.

Right now, people are actually paying $40+ for VG+ copies of "Off the Wall" LPs on eBay.
Some sellers are asking $300 for same.

I wonder what will happen when Babs dies? Maybe we should start filling our basements now....

New Year's Eve 2004 I stayed up most of the night to bid on a pristine Sony Japanese gold Thriller limited promo CD on eBay (100 samples pressed). Wound up with the winning snipe bid of $72 and felt like I paid a little too much. Not anymore :banana::banana:

Already ahead of you. I have about 600 pop and schmaltz still in the truck, from a recent collection I picked up, and headed for donation at the thrifts.

Last night as the selling frenzy started, I made another pass through them and pulled a couple of dozen Babs (including a Quad title, scary thought) to add to assorted titles I already had. I'm dedicating a shelf to her, Bette Midler and Barry Manilow.

How's her health been of late? :scratch2:

...timing is everything :smoke:

I also found about seven MJ titles including a couple of Single mix promos from the appropriately titled Bad LP. VERY glad I shelved those when I ran across, instead of donating.
