HI,
I'm Zeb from Brisbane Australia.I have a Pioneer Amp SX-337(about 1990 build) that doesn't seem to be working from one channel. There is sound but very faint and not knowing anything about the workings of amps, just wanted to know if it would be worth getting fixed or just get another one.:scratch2:I've done a search and couldn't find any info about this amp.
Thanks,
Zeb

Hi Zeb,
You haven't got an amp. but a receiver.
As for the search... did you look in the AudioKarma database?
I don't think so because there's the user/operating manual right in front of you.
As far as the service-manual goes I haven't seen it around except for pay-sites.
Judging from the picture on the front of the user-manual I would say all source signal switching is being done mechanically (with switches behind the front push-buttons) that possibly could do with a treatment of DeoxIT.
The receiver is just a run-o'-the-mill and nothing spectacular but by far better than what cheap Chinese junk hit the streets now-a-days imo.

I can't find any reference to a sx-337..... is there an alternate number?

Ok Thanks,i'll try and find some DeoxIT(or equivilant) and give that a go.I don't know if that is being sold in Australia,i'll try the electronic shops.I guess it's a cleaner lubricant?
Thanks,
Zeb

As for where to get it, Caig has a website that has an international dealers list, and as the word spreads, it has been increasing in size and scope.
Looks like 2 Distributors down under, in NSW, Alexandria and Silverwater
http://store.caig.com/s.nl/sc.15/category.112/ctype.SS/SS.112/.f
Alexandria: no online ordering http://www.caprina.com.au
Silverwater: yes online ordering http://www1.electusdistribution.com.au
good luck...
The link to the international dealers list:

Many thanks tri-comp,that tip worked a treat.I couldn't get DeoxIT locally, but used a similar contact cleaner.Channel is up to 90% now,at least it's much better than what it was.:thmbsp:
Thanks,
Zeb.
