Another good one is "Word of Mouth." anytune 06-29-2009, 03:13 PM Misfits (1978) and School Boys in Disgrace (1975) are two of my faves that get no airplay, but should. Bonder 07-01-2009, 01:28 PM Completely agree, Give the People what they Want is a great album! Another favorite of mine is "Low Budget":thmbsp: qdrone 07-02-2009, 02:31 AM Low Budget,Give the People What They Want and Word of Mouth are excellent albums. I have Low Budget on a SACD disc and it sounds great. Anything they recorded at konk Studios imo has an elevated treble or simbelence in the vocal range but this SACD disc is pure heaven. :music: Cool_Manchu 07-02-2009, 07:39 PM I just wanted to mention how nice it is to see Word of Mouth get props from you guys. I absolutely love that album, I listened to it extensively when it came out when I was in high school. I think Living on a Thin Line is absolutely amazing. It has great lyrics, great hooks and stands the test of time in my mind. I loved that they used it in the Sopranos and that you can hear it every now and again on Sirius. I grew up a Kinks fan and thought they never got due respect for their achievements. Not many bands had hit songs in the 60s, 70s and 80s. They were able to transition from the rock n' roll of the early sixties through the hippie era, the classic rock era and even into new wave. They truly grew in their own way and remained relevant for a great expanse of time. The Davies brothers made same amazing music and I wish they were considered among the likes of the Beatles and the Stones. |
