Eh, I always thought the coolest turntable was the one with the most engineering behind it to produce the absolute lowest level of coloration possible. :music:

In reality, this was probably the Denon DP-100M intended for pro archiving ; it had an arm with accelerometers installed in it, along with CPU controlled arm transducer to counter-act resonances and an actuator servo to cancel drift/skating etc. It has a massive drive system that was absolute speed accurate and extremely low in rumble/noise. It was ugly as sin and intended only for industrial/pro use - but even in the late 80's it cost around $10,000.

This is some industrial design student's portfolio. Almost nothing seen on sites such as these ever works in real life.

I think you are right....it probably does classify for the ugliest turntable ever! Even the EMT's are cool in their ugliness, but that Denon is just plain fugly!...probably sounds incredible!

That's a single-pole anti-schwimmer diaphragm motor:yes:the same device used in the waveless radio and certain houses of ill-repute.:D
