Just came in the mail today and its not bad so far. Anybody else getting there new album?

I'll probably grab it one of these days. From the leak that I've been listening to it's solid, but isn't immediately awesome in the way Sky Blue Sky was for me.

Just got it on LP (free CD inside) and have had my second full listen...a really good record. not as good IMO as Sky Blue Sky, but still really enjoyable!

I like it more than SBS, it does have a more experimental feel ala Yankee Hotel Foxtrot and Ghost is Born on some tracks like Bull Black Nova. I would say the only downfall is the lack of Nels Cline on this album.

I like Wilco, I just don't love them. Better than average but no outstanding album in their body of work Summerteeth comes close and individual songs are gems this album is the same way

I agree with smeaney, the downfall of this record is indeed the way Nels Cline has been reined in. Wilco has always been about the people playing with Tweedy; on his own, without someone like Jay Bennett or Cline, these records would be just vaguely ironic, self-referential pop songs. Like so many others.

Both this record and Sky Blue Sky sound, after listening to the leak for a few weeks, very inferior to A Ghost is Born--a record that, at the time, was a let down after Yankee Hotel Foxtrot.

The crazy thing is this: for the first time in well over a decade, the new (forthcoming) Son Volt record beats the new Wilco record, without a doubt. For years that seemed impossible...

For those who haven't yet bought the album and have a vinyl rig, I highly recommend the vinyl, which sounds fantastic. The vinyl has a completely different mastering and after a comparison to the cd (which is also included with the vinyl), the difference is not subtle. Listening to this one has been a fun ride, especially picking out all of the references to the Beatles and other rock artists of the 60s, 70s, and 80s.

Indeed Nels is still with the band and an important part of it. I bought the record and will give it a good listen when I can give it my undivided attention.
