Who knows of any upcoming swap meets in or around San Fran? If it's a biggie then I might even be willing to buzz down to LaLa land. Thanks

View Full Version : Nor Cal hamfest electronic swap meets? heathkit tv 08-30-2004, 08:18 PM Who knows of any upcoming swap meets in or around San Fran? If it's a biggie then I might even be willing to buzz down to LaLa land. Thanks Anthony CarlV 08-30-2004, 09:38 PM This is all there is bud. I've never been there myself. They say if you aren't waiting for the gates to open your too late. http://www.electronicsfleamarket.com/Default.htm Carl San Fran? :bash: You didn't grow up here did you? heathkit tv 08-30-2004, 09:54 PM Thanks Carl, that's the one I've always heard of but could never locate.......but to answer your question is most difficult as I haven't grown up PERIOD! LOL Anthony Sandy G 08-30-2004, 11:00 PM ..."Here is a secret I never have told; maybe you'll understand why/ I believe if I refuse to grow old, I can stay young til I die..." -Irene Ryan, "Pippin", 1972-Sandy G., having never really grown up either.... heathkit tv 09-10-2004, 07:02 PM Irene Ryan (AKA Granny on the Beverly BillHillies) had her brain blow out backstage while performing in that play. The irony is this happened right before her final number......little did anyone know that was REALLY her final number! This meet will be held this coming Saturday (9/11) and hopefully I'll make it there. Keep an eye out for low flying planes for me will ya? Anthony CarlV 09-10-2004, 07:07 PM Hey Anthony, Let me know what it's like. I can never get any good answers out of people who go there all the time. Don't forget to be there before it opens. Carl heathkit tv 09-10-2004, 07:25 PM Sho nuff....am pretty much expecting it to be filled with ham gear and bizzare computer crap. I posted to their discussion board asking if they have much in the way of TVs etc and have yet to get a response. If nothing else, at least I can lay claim to have finally attended this meet. Weather should be tanfastic......good flying weather for Wiggy. I pity the turban head who should start anything with him onboard LOL Anthony dr*audio 09-10-2004, 09:31 PM When I used to live in L.A. there was a TRW Swapmeet the last Saturday of every month in the parking lot of TRW. I think it was in El Segundo or Redondo Beach. Maybe it's still there. Worth going if it is. Bob 09-12-2004, 02:10 AM Was just there but not at the opening. There wasn't much in the way of audio stuff. Not even parts for DIY. There were only a few folks selling tubes. Picked up some 5U4s and a pair of 80s. There was a lot of test equipment and ham gear and old computer stuff. Not going back unless I can get there by 7am. I was hoping to spot a mint Audio Research SP 3/6/8/10 for $10... LBPete 09-12-2004, 02:30 AM Bob, Where was it held? Do you know when the next one is? - Pete heathkit tv 09-12-2004, 04:01 AM Between too much happy juice and setting my alarm clock for PM instead of AM I ended up missing it. Dang. Oh well, there'll be another one in 2 weeks. Check the second message in this thread for a link to their site for more info. Anthony *hIc* Bob 09-12-2004, 03:00 PM Pete According to the link it's held on the second Saturday of each month. Saturday was at some parking lot east of 101 on 11th. (The directions are ok...). Funny story - I come down 101 south and you take the Mathilda Ave exit. As I get to the exit - CalTrans has it blocked off to do repairs! Talk about making a U-turn on 101! I'l look up the next meet (could be same spot but I'll check) and post details here. Bob Bob 09-14-2004, 05:34 PM Pete + others Oct 9th sponsored by West Valley Amateur Radio Association and held at the same place. From SF and north: take 101 south to Mathilda exit . Left turn off exit to head north on Mathilda. Get into rightmost LEFT-turn lane as you go under 237. The left turn puts you on Moffet park Drive. On your right will be a quasi-military Satellite wall with fence. Make right onto Lockheed Martin way (first light as I recall) and bear left at the roadblock onto 11th. Fleamarket is on your first right and after you turn there's parking (left side for sellers, right side for buyers) . Get there at 7am or there's nothing left or no parking or both. Bob LBPete 09-14-2004, 09:57 PM Bob, Thanks for the information. Is this event in Northern California or Southern California? I though you were referring to Dr*audio's comment about the TRW swap meet but their old facility is no where near the 101. - Pete CarlV 09-14-2004, 10:05 PM We're talking San Jose more or less LBPete. I am sure you have much better pickings in your neck of the woods. I'm glad I haven't gotten up at 5 am for the one here at this point. :D Guess they were right about if your not ready when the gates open your too late. Carl |
