I woke up at 3:00 am on Thursday morning with a driving thought that I needed to get some Sousa music for the 4th. I picked up a two disc set during lunch and listened to it on the way home from work and at home last night and most of today. This is like being in your own parade! The discs are a 1983 recording by the Royal Marine Band. Happy 4th!

I've got some original 78's from Sousa...freakin' sounds like you are at a fairground or parade...even if you are playing it on a victrola. Kinda cool!

I favor the Mercury Living Presence recordings of Sousa's complete works by Frederick Fennell conducting the Eastman Wind Ensemble. Those records are legendary then and now. :tresbon:

If this is the one to which you refer, it's way beyond good stuff! Only has four Sousa marches, but everything is so tasty, emotional, and over the top in a great way. British concert band playing at its finest.
