My Carver 900 receiver that I'm currently using for garage duty had some busted selector knobs where the plastic had gotten brittle over time and the torquing of the switches eventually caused them to break out.
Stereo_dog was kind enough to send me some Carver knobs he had on hand in hopes they would work, but unfortunately they were a tad bit too big to fit into the faceplate cutouts. [ I'll send 'em back along with some postage coin, Joe :thmbsp: ].
So I came up with this repair by using some knobs I had picked up at Midwest Speaker Repair for my CV 217r's. They didn't fit like I had hoped and weren't going to be used so they became the sacrificial lambs for my Carver knob dilemma. They were cheap.... $.50 a piece, so I thought, "What the heck! If they don't work, no biggie."
Here's what I started with...

The MSR knobs have a plastic inner molding nearly identical in diameter to the inside diameter of the Carver knob.

I dremeled out the broken shaft enclosure in the Carver knobs and had to sand down the MSR inserts slightly to fit.

Add a little super glue to the mix and tada - functional knobs.

Now I can switch them without any effort like they're supposed to work.

I just thought I'd share this little DIY project in case anyone else had the same problem with some of their vintage knobs.
