I just got about 10 reels of Scotch 177. Have not run it yet. Anyone know if it's a shedder? I want to really use that tape...

Well, i don't have expierence with that specific type, but if this helps it used the same binder (the usual cause of shedding) as #s 154,156 - 158, 176, 178 & 179. So if any of those are known trouble makers, it can be assumed these 177s might be as well. It was introduced in 1972.

177 was decent tape then. Didn't give you trouble. Well suited for older decks which have trouble with higher bias tapes. Never saw any which shedded oxide.

Cool to know! I have at least a case of it, and I want to mostly do airchecks with it, so I guess it would be fairly ideal. I'll cehck some tonight and report backw ith my findings.
