Like $1 vinyl, it's a great way to discover music you would not otherwise buy. Can't tell you how many $1 albums I bought for one song, only to discover that I loved the whole album, then started hunting for a mint copy.

I bought 162 cassette tapes (all pre-recorded) last Saturday at a yard sale for $15.00. He had 3 boxes with 54 in each box. I asked him what he wanted for them, and he said if I would buy a whole box, I could have the box for $5.00!

He also had over 100 8-track tapes. I gave him an extra $5.00 and took those home too!

I still have 2 vehicles that have cassette players in them and they will be good to listen to in the garage as well!

Likewise , I have bought many cassette tapes for 25 to 50 cents each as well as vinyl 45's for 4 for 1 dollar.
Can't go wrong there.

On our local primary school I bought 200 VHS tapes for $2.
About 100 were brand new duplicate movies in sealed heavy duty boxes.
Have used quite a few to tape over for TV programmes. perfect quality.

Last summer I stopped at a yard sale and picked up some cassettes ,2 for a doller. Some prerecorded some blank. Later that day on my way to the store I passed by the house again ,and sitting on the curb with the rest of the stuff the woman did not sell are six boxes of cassettes .So I pulled a u-turn and snagged then. There now about 250 tapes waiting to be put on to my cumputer. All the genre are covered .The other day I recorded Bob Dylan biograph , tape 1,2,and 3,and put it onto CD for my son.Sometimes I don't think I'll ever finish transcribing just my favorits.

I always raid the tape bins at the GW and the SA. They are always the cheapest things out there. The only thing cheaper than cassettes are 8 tracks if you can find them.

Most of the GW stores here sell the cassettes for $1. The same for 8 tracks. Vinyl is $1.99. That being said there are a few GW stores that sell the cassettes for 50 cents.

In my neck of the woods tapes at GW stores are $1.49 for pre rec, blank .99 Vinyl $1.99 they usually have a good selection though. SVDP and other thrifts are a bit cheaper. Yards sales are always good lots of times as cheap as .10

We're about average up here. Usually tapes are 5 for $1 here unless new-in-wrap then they are $1 each. One of the two thrifts lets them go at $0.10 each for pre-recorded tapes.

Think Green. All those tapes and lps you're buying might have ended up in a trash heap in some third world country. I get tapes and lps at thrift here for 25 cents. Therefore I have too many but they don't take up too much space. Happy hunting.

On a really good deck, pre-recorded clear shell tapes can be outstanding. GW is about the only thrift around here and they go for $.85 with 1/2 price week about every 5th week.
