Hey All!
Just picked up a Nakamichi LX-5 tonight. It's the third that I've seen in the last six months (?!), but easily the one in nicest shape. Strangely, the first cassette that fell to hand once it was patched into my system was Talk Show by The GoGos. So far Belinda Carlisle sounds great. Let the run off with my Nak Cassette Deck One begin!
way to go!
used to have the 2 headed lx-3, good deck, should'a kept it.

Enjoy that LX-5!
The LX series was designed to be a little more "Home Audio" and less "pro studio" in terms of styling, but these are superbly built decks under the hood. Mine was reconditioned by Wayne from Stereo Repair in East Setauket, NY. He did a fantastic job. The LX-5 is one of the few Dolby C decks that sounds right to my ears. The Fader is a really nice touch for automatically fading in and out: particularly nice for the late night NPR Jazz shows. The LX-5 is a real keeper!

Saw one of those at GW recently but I was thrown off by the entirely plastic faceplate!

Nice score on the tape deck. BTW, I have "Talk Show" on vinyl... one of my favorite albums also! Excellent choice!

Used to have an LX-3 and traded it away. Beast of a machine and the oddly laid out panels and displays were just not-inviting. Maybe Nak-LX is an acquired taste .....
