I played semi pro ball for one season a couple years back, until I got out of college and got a real job then I stopped because if I got injured I would lose my nice job and I definetely wouldn't get workman's comp ;) One guy on my team broke his leg during a game.

I now live vicariously thru my son who is a starting linebacker and guard on his freshmen football team. They moved him from his normal place of defensive tackle to linebacker after the 2nd day of double sessions practice this summer. I was shocked, I was like you must be the slowest linebacker ever ;) But the coach says his footwork is impressive and that he could start varsity if he wasn't a 9th grader  (varsity team has about 60 kids on it) I haven't seen him play yet ( i missed his first game cuz it was 3 hours away on a workday :( ) I can't wait to see him play next week. I guess all those Ultimate Fighting classes really helped with his agressiveness and hitting from what my mom told me when she saw the game last week. I am stoked!!!!

BTW his high school's freshman team has only lost two games in the last 4 years and both were overtime games. They won their 1st game 30 - 0 :D

cool, we're the underdogs, we have a small team (26 people, a whopping 5 linemen for offence and defence) i play tackle and all the d-line spots, last year we finished 1-9 (which is really bad) but for a team made of all grade 10's (the starting grade here in canada) i guess we didnt do to bad now we are all in grade 11, with another year of experience we have kicked ass (54-3 in our first exhibition game) and now with the tournament beat every team by 14 points or more. cant wait for our season opener!
