well heres something i've always wnated to try, and i did last night, at about 2 am.....

heres the second pic, rather thna doing the typical pull out the frets use wood filler and sand i just ground down the frets with an emory blet on the belt sadner, it roked much better, and now i've still got markers

its real tricky to play, but it can be done, its sitting round here right now, very "unique"

Excuse my ignorance, but what's the reason for doing that? How does it sound? I remember reading a long time ago about Andy Summers playing one with the Police. I guess you'd never get any fret buzz :D .

you get a real jazzy wooden soudn , as well you have a onon-tempered instrument like a violin instead of a ukelale sorta idea.... its a totally different sound and you can control enharmonics and such a pain in the ass to play though
