I shipped an amp yesterday at UPS and when I walked in there was a man dressed in regular clothes with no name tag, no UPS shirt ect. I set my box down and started to the computer. When I turned around the man was cutting open my box!!!!

I asked him Excuse ME!!! Can I help you??????? I work here he said. I said can I see some ID????? He got that look that after 12 years in the military and 11 years as a DOD employee I knew what was comming next.

The gal behind the counter said he works here. After looking in the box and them resealing it I paid and on my way out looked him in the eye an said "Have a nice day Spook" He just looked at the ground and I left.

I did not know that the Dept of Homeland security/CIA was working UPS counters.

I have worked with the Spooks in central and south america. After all these years I just wish they would get it right. A UPS shirt would have put everyones mind at ease. They were checking every box that was comming in there. I have no problem with them checking my packing but damm. Be a little discreet about it.

Anyone else ship a package in the last couple of days?

P.S. My packing (sae 301) This may be in the wrong forum?

You told him, didn't you? :)
I would think UPS would be able to hire whomever they wanted, to inspect whatever they wanted.
They are actually loss prevention people Not some covert operator. People that work the counter, don't usually wear uniforms. As a matter of fact, we don't even have name tags, at our center, and it's the largest facility in the state.

It's just like the cops: you can always tell when cops are on the road "undercover" because they invariably drive Ford Crown Vics with tiny hubcaps instead of wheel covers, there's no chrome trim, blue lights peek from behind the grille, and there's at least one antenna whip that's far shorter than one used for FM. They stand out like lighthouses to those who know what to look for. What gives them away easily is usually a non-civilian passenger car license plate!

Did you use a pre-printed label, affixed before you entered the facility?
The whole "security" idea is to identify where the package "came" from.

The post office won't let you give a package with stamps affixed as postage to a lettercarrier on the street, but he CAN accept it FROM you at your house... otherwise you have to HAND it to the counter personel. But with a "computer printed" label with the barcoded postage he can accept it on the street...

Anonomous = bad nowadays... prove who you are or up against the wall and spread em fella!!!

After standing in line at UPS behind little old ladies in tennis shoes that brought a shoe box to ship and can't run a computer, I print my shipping lables at home or office and just drop off or have UPS pu. Works pretty slick.

Breakfast at The Plaza Patilla Hotel in Panama. 100 people in the room and 75 of them are white Anglo's with aviator sunglasses. This was the mid '80's profile.
