Hello Everyone:
My son confirmed he picked up on my behalf a Kenwood KR-9600 for $50.
I have not had a chance to get it from him but I'm looking forward to trying her out! The seller told me everything works. We'll see...
How does this unit compare to a G9000?
Any opinions appreciated.
Regards,
Dave

The KR 9600 was TOTL for Kenwood. Be careful in choosing speakers for it, you don't want something that will dip below 4 ohms. The output devices in the 9600 are unobtainium. Great score!

Bested only by the KR-9050 in Kenwood's receiver line.
$50 for a 9600 is a steal!

Way to go. Are you going to recap the audio path?

You stole that KR-9600!
The KR-9600 was TOTL for the '77 to '79 model line, and then came its successor the KR-9050 for the '79 to '80 model line.
The KR-9600 and G9000 are two very different animals, both have 160wpc into 8ohms and 200wpc into 4ohms. It really only depends on which one sounds better to you.

My Kenwoods never had problems driving 4 ohms. The 9600 is a real beast(in a good way). I think it'll handle anything you want to hook it up to. You have a good son there!
