I have an old Sansui AU-3900 which has issues. and I want to replace. I read here that the monitor 7 shine with high powered amps. (+100 w) . It will have an Infinity sub. big room (16x28) the monitors are off the floor about eye level. any help. Classical, jazz and blues. I'm very happy with the low powered sansui when it works but looking to improve without a lot of cash. any words of wisdom would be helpful. thanks.

The Sansui is an integrated amplifier. I don't know what the issues are with it, but if the problem is in the amplification and not in the preamplification, you might want to use it as a preamplifier. The Behringer A500 amplifier ($200) could be used as the power end with high output capability. Take the tape out from the Sansui and feed the A500 inputs. I've attached a link to a place that sells the behringer and you can download the PDF copy of the owners manual from them and check it out. The Behringer has volume controls of its own so you would control the volume from it. Here's the link:
