Well, I've started on customizing the bottlehead Foreplay preamp to make it a "Ward Original".
The cabinet has been cut to fit a machined and polished (of course) aluminum back panel. The input/output jacks and the ac power block are housed here. The power block is a combination of power switch, ac line filter and dual fuse assembly. Plus has a universal power cord receptical.
More pictures to follow as I buildup the Foreplay. It will take a lot longer than the stock one or two day build. I figure about two to three weeks. <hint> notice the front is cut at an angle </hint>

The first pic was a mock up for fit. I've pulled the parts out and drilled for polished stainless steel cap screws. The top will go on the same way.

It looks really good so far. Making it a "Ward Original" would, IMO, would be the best part of the construction. That way, it's all yours! :)
Brad
Very, very nice there Wards. That should be a beauty!

Thanks guys - it helps to have access to a shear, a brake, a endmill and a CNC machine. And thats just for the flat metal pieces. The feet will be turned on a metal lathe. The wood requries a table saw and router table. But it's all worth it in the end when you get a professional quality piece.

Here is the mock up before polishing of the front
Wards,
I like that look. BTW, what are you using to polish aluminum, and that HK 500 amp you polished up so nice the other day?
I just use Brasso on aluminum. Works pretty well, especially on a lathe as the part is spinning.

Define biker: Harley Davidson motorcycle rider, Japanese rocket rider, Tour de France cyclist.
What makes you think that?

I ride one of these. If you laugh at me, the hell with you :D
Hey Tim,
I see lots of room there to customize that bike with audio accessories. You could add an altec VOT cabinet as a side car, and cable reels as rear saddlebags to reel off the extension cord needed to power the system! ;)
Rob
Wards,
Thanx for the tip on the chrome polish. I gotta try and find some.
