Found a CTF-4242 on the local CL for $5. Working. Checked it out ok. Brought it home, opened it up and cleaned everything. Replaced the main belt (for some reason I had a belt that fit..go figure.), de-magnetized the heads, and lubed everything.
Hooked it up and played DSOTM. Sounds damn near as good as the LP. :thmbsp:
Old lady was bitching about all the gear in the living room., so I spent all afternoon reconfiguring. Down to 1 TT, 1 R2R, and 2 cassettes. :tears:
Here's what's left in the front room.
On the Speaker(Sansui SP-2500) CT-F4242, CT-F650. Stands are FULL Drywall Mud buckets with pillow cases to cover. HEY IT WORKS!!
Top to bottom Rack PL-25F (Idler Drive), SX-1010, SR-202W(Big Band stuff sounds better with it on a little), and an AKAI GX-370D.
Next thing to get is a RT 700 or 900 series deck. Gotta cut a lot of lawns!
