I was flipping through the TV channels and saw a product being displayed on QVC. It's called an "eyeclops". It's marketed towards kids (sold at Target, KB Toys, Toys-R-Us, etc.) and is a microscope that can hook up to your TV screen. If the specs are believalbe, it supposedly has magnification levels of 100x, 200x, 400x. For only $30, it may not be a bad stylus microscope (if you can get back the silly look of the thing).

Has anyone used one of these?

Disclaimer: I'm in no way affiliated with this product. Also, if this needs to be attached to the sticky or moved, feel free.

yeah, i have a few of them. bought one for my kid, and a few months later i saw the upgraded version for 15 bux or so, so i grabbed a few as presents. kept one for myself, of course. they make nice stylus scopes, with the right lighting. and yes, they are very odd looking.

If it's not to much of a PITA, would you mind taking a few pics of the stylus with this contraption and posting them? I'm intrigued.

some pics, but sadly, no stylus. however, the last image shows the side of a quarter and you can make out scratches on the ridges of the quarter. pretty cool stuff.

Here'a a 6 month old thread with pictures.

Problems I had with the Eyeclops are, #1 lighting, the built-in LED lighting is useless, plus holding it steady especially when pressing the shutter button on the Eyeclops, made even worse at the higher magnification you need to see the wear on a stylus.

HI All,
I call your attention to my sticky "Sparkys Fabulous DIY Stylus Microscope". If you really want to see what is going on with your stylus you should check it out. If nothing else, you may learn something. Cheap, plastic computer based microscopes are, ultimately, a waste of money when used for stylus inspection.

I hope someone will come out with a good computer microscope. Then we may have something to talk about. Until then, we are stuck with conventional microscopes modified for stylus use, which can work very well as my article shows.
