I'm looking to replace the tonearm on my Thorens TD-115 after an unfortunate accident that resulted in the wand snapping off and breaking the pins on the arm. Anyway, I'm not sure what my options are for a replacement tonearm as I'm hoping to spend around $100 but no more than $200. It seems like Thorens tonearms are hard to come by and I'm not really sure which others are compatible. Can anyone lend their expertise on this?

Anybody? I'm really starting to miss having a functional turntable.

Hate to be the carrier of the bad news, but that series of Thorens turntables, comprising the 104 / 105 / 110 / 115 do not accept any other arms other than the originals.
I´m a big Thorens fan, so it is kinda embarassing for me to say that was the worst series of TT´s Thorens ever produced, and you would probably be better off getting a second hand TT to replace that one.
Just a couple of months ago I was given a TD-104 with that very problem ( missing arm wand ) and after closer inspection, I decided to trash it.
Sorry.

Sorry, have to agree with Hifi nut. Use the money to get another TT. The arm is/was about the best part of the Thorens.

The 105 used the tp63 which is very common with other arms, the 115 is the tp70. You can find the wand online...eb**, but it's not worth it, get a new Thorens, or TT
Ones worth having:Td147, 145 160 and 150 (which Linn and Ariston copied).. there are many more worth keeping but they are hard to find.
Ones to avoid, aside from the ones mentioned: 166, 165, 146
I have had a few Thorens come my way, and found the 160 to be really good, specially with mods, I have done the same mods to a 166, and it still wasn't a keeper.
Right now I have a 145 with many mods which would make it similar to the 147, with the exception of the motor. But once my Lenco is ready to be rigged up, I will find my 145 a good owner.
