Just picked up a Pioneer PL-530 turntable which was included with 100 LPs for $65 from a guy on CL. The dust cover is a little scratched and cracked where the hinges mount to it, but he had the original owners manual!

I'll list some of the records and pics of the turntable later but I saw Pink Floyd's Meddle, DSOTM, Animals, & The Wall by just glancing - and of course 2 copies of Tapestry.

The guy said he picked up the turntable when he was in the Army stationed in Germany. The Pink Floyd Meddle LP is an absolutely mint copy, cover w/gatefold and mint vinyl, pressed in Germany (EMI Harvest).

So there may be some intersting LPs in this collection.

Good score - should be fun looking thru the old LP's - there has to be some rare ones in the batch.

Pioneer PC-50 - probably the one that came with it.

I have a funny feeling that most of these LPs are German pressings. :thmbsp:

Very nice. Look closely at Hendrix LP's, if you got 'em. Might be some original monos there.

Yeah, I did a search for records, he had just listed this stuff, and when I saw that he was going to include the PL-530, I called him and was down there in about 20 minutes!

I have the PL-530 playing The Bee Gees Gold Vol. 1 right now through my SX-950 at the shop, and there is absolutely no surface noise. And this is with the Pioneer PC-50 cartridge that's on the TT. He must not have used this baby too much! And I forgot how good The Bee Gees were before SNF!

Nice PL-530 turntable, I have one that is semi-auto for now.
I have used one of my Denon DL-160 cartridges on it, very good sounding indeed!:music:
That's one of my winter rehab projects.

I have the same one that I bought new in 1982 and it still works as well as ever. I don't use it much and I have it set it up mainly to transfer vinyl from my days as a studio musician in the 70s.

I have no idea what cartridge this is and I don't want to remove it to see if there are any other ID marks.

It's an Audio Technica, the "Compass" series. Not sure of the exact model number.

I really need to remember to check CL early in the day instead of last thing at night...

Nice looking score man.

Thanks! There are some more German pressed LPs, some white and purple labeled Threshold Moody Blues albums, and 3 UK Bob Marley and The Wailer albums in the bunch. Ya just never know what you're going to find!

You should bring a stack of them over to Mark's house and we'll listen to them on his Kornerhorns before he finds someone to buy them. That reminds me, I need to talk him into buying a nice old Garrard 301 before he gets rid of them.

Lemme guess, the stylus wasn't the only thing that barely got used.

Yeah, the records all look like they haven't been played more than once, if that. :thmbsp:
