I have a Pioneer PL-L800 that the tracking is not working properly (jerks, stops, jerks, etc) and I am looking to get it repaired. Any suggestions on a repair/parts source? Hate to trash it for lack of parts because it goes with my entire Champaign Gold Series stereo component system.:tears: Parts are not available from Pioneer. The tonearm is OK but the tracking mechanish is not so good.
Have lots of LP's that are dying to be played (most have not been played but for 2 or 3 times - most are from the mid/late 60's through mid 80's) but my turntable is no co-operating.
TIA

See the "tube" that the tone arm rides on? It has to be squeaky clean for proper operation. If that doesn't do it then that tube has some scratches on it. Get the service manual from Vinyl Engine and follow the procedure to take it apart. The service manual calls for loosening that tube and give it a turn to cure erratic arm operation. Hope this helps.

Thanks for link. Seems to have a number of Pioneer home audio parts.

I have the service manual and have tried to disassemble the unit and repair it with what was on hand. It seems that the magnets in the carrier base assembly became unglued to the base and I tried to re-glue them.
I guess what I need is a new carrier base assembly.
Thanks for the manual though. It is a duplicate of what I already have but it is in better shape so at least I can replace the one that I have.
I think that this is beyond my technical expertise and I should bring it to a shop to have it repaired. Does anyone have a preference for a repair shop for this kind of work?
TIA
