Grumpy Tonto Yoder 11-04-2002, 05:55 PM Grump. Audio Note has three arms, two of which are based on Regas, the third "handmade in low volume." If you order one, I'll be glad to break it for you. Tonto Er uhm, I meant break it IN for you. BrianB 11-04-2002, 11:43 PM Actually, Audio Note currently makes five tonearms -- the ARM One (based on the Rega RB250), the ARM Two (based on the Rega RB300), and three different versions of the AN-1s. grumpy 11-05-2002, 04:35 PM Brian The 5 audio Note arms are the only ones you carry ? Grumpy BrianB 11-05-2002, 05:14 PM Hi Grumpy, At the moment, the Kuzma and Audio Note tonearms are the only ones I regularly offer. However, I've got my eye on a couple of other brands, and my selection will no doubt grow in the near future. Please keep in mind that Venus Hi-Fi is a relatively small and very new audio shop - we opened for business just a little over a year ago. Furthermore, my focus has always been on product lines that are a bit out of the ordinary - that is, rather than bringing in lots of the obvious "best-seller" brands that you can find in nearly every high-end audio store, I've concentrated more on quality lines that you just don't see everyday (Cain & Cain, Final Laboratory, J.M. Reynaud, JENA Labs, Living Voice, Shun Mook, Vecteur, WAVAC, etc.). Recently, I've also added a few more common lines, such as Cambridge Audio and Music Hall, that I think offer terrific bang for the buck. But my overall focus remains on components and accessories that I personally find exciting - and love listening to! So no, I don't offer the world's largest selection of alternatives in any given equipment category. However, I can sometimes special-order items from lines that I don't carry... Cheers, Brian grumpy 11-05-2002, 05:35 PM Brian I didnt mean to imply that you Should have this huge selection. Nor did I mean that you do not carry enough. I just merely wanted to know what brands you carried. I think its great that you carry the "not so popular" Brands. It sounds like the only ones you carry that I could possibly afford are The Arms. Unfortunately I am not a fan of most incaranations of Rega's . Though they are fine arms they are not quite what I am looking for. Thanks grumpy Tonto Yoder 11-05-2002, 05:37 PM Brian, I think you have quite an impressive roster of gear irrespective of how small you may be or how long you've been in business. Of course, as a customer it'd be great to go into a shop and see a smorgasboard of tonearms (all discounted) but I don't think that's realistic. TY BrianB 11-05-2002, 06:19 PM Sorry if I came off as being at all defensive! Admittedly, I've been thinking about how some members, upon checking Venus Hi-Fi's website, might scratch their heads in puzzlement over the selection of relatively unfamiliar audio gear. Hopefully, though, this will provide some unique opportunities to AudioKarma members - especially in terms of being able to personally review pieces (such as the Shun Mook Mpingo Discs) that have hardly been touched by the mainstream audiophile press... Hattophile 11-27-2002, 02:09 PM Do you have weights for the rb300 arm? BrianB 11-27-2002, 02:15 PM Hi Hattophile, I'll have to check with Audio Note to see if they can supply me with these weights. Either way, I'll send you a private message once I find out... Cheers, Brian |
