A new edition to the family. Funny how this can to be. I went to look at an old acoustic guitar and it turned out to be crap. The guy told me he collected old stuff. Records, tt's, receivers, etc.......I told him I did too, so he showed me his stuff. Thousands of records, tt's all over the place and about 4 receivers. He said he had the Sansui hooked up for years, but the balance was going out. I told him I would be interested at $20. Well, you see it's now in the family. I disconnected my Pioneer SX-1050 and hooked this bad boy up after cleaning the pots and whatnot. Perfect:) It doesn't seem to have the punch the Pioneer has, but maybe it's just a different sound. Anyone care to explain the differences in the sound and what some opinions are of this unit?
Thanks a bunch

You stole that thing :D I have not heard the SX-1050, but I do like my G-7700. Seems to have some guts hooked to my DLK/2's

Good looker! I've always thought the "Pure Power" slogan was cool!

Don't judge it too soon... give it a chance to warm up.
I was just trying to find some info on this, as one has come up in the Atlanta area.

Although the G-7700 was from the series that some feel was just past Sansui's prime, it was still a hell of a product. It is probably not the strongest competitor to the SX 1050, or any of that series of Pioneer products, but it is still a respected piece of equipment. It might be well worth your time and effort to learn about DC offset and bias adjustment. IMHO Sansui has the sound that suits me the best in an overall sense. It is hard to find competition for my SX 1250 but my recently acquired G 8000 Sansui tips the scale in its favor. You also may need to experiment with different speakers to find the receiver/speaker synergy that you are looking for.
Have fun with your new find and enjoy the music. That is what it is all about in the first place.

Thanks guys. Since hooking it up to JLB L112's it has really impressed me some. The difference between the SX-1050 and the G-7700 in my opinion is that the Sansui is warmer and not as "in your face" loud. The complete sound spectrum is much smoother than that of the pioneer. That's what I'm hearing anyhow. I'm keeping it hooked up for now.
