I'm looking for a couple of the black screws and flat washers for the cabinet cover on my Sansui G22k. These are the two screws that go in the back of thereceiver. I know Sansui used this hardware alot. I have an 8080DB and G-8700DB and its probably the same screws.

Any ideas where I can get them?

The screws that are used in Japanese electronics of that era are hard to find. I’ve been looking for the case screws for a while. They are a very common size, 4x14mm but I can’t find them with a black finish. I have found a place that can supply the screws and have them plated black but it’s a little pricey for small quantities. I’m putting together an order with some other items to meet their minimum. I’ll let you know when I get them.

If anyone else has a source for the black case or tapping screws that Sansui used, I’m all ears.

LB, Ford electonics has some metric screws and they are all in black. I will have to go check to see what they have and report back. I will be out of town until Thursday afternoon but will let you know. If I remember right I bought some that hold the 9090DB case on at Ford.

REK,
None of the hobby screws listed are the correct 4x14mm for the case. Some of the taping screws may work but you get a bunch of other stuff you can't use.

Rek,
Thanks for the referral. They have a very easy to use web site. The page you referenced is the right dimension screw but I don’t see any reference to them being black. The only reference I see is to zinc plating. That the common silver finish. Am I missing something?

"POR-15 em black".... POR-15 is a bullet-proof paint. It comes in several shades. I've used a foot long "Spike" to mix it. After it dried I hit the spike with a BFH on an anvil. The spike deformed but the POR-15 remained intact. It was just an idea... I asked a guy who repairs PC's if he has some M4X14. He said he'll check. If he does, I'll try the POR-15 on them. Where there's a will...
