For my Debut III I ordered the Acryl-It platter. $118 shipped from acousticsounds.com

Can't wait to see (hear) the difference. If there is no difference It doesn't matter since it will look nicer than the stock platter.

I will be looking forward to your thoughts and impressions on the sound.

Well, in 3 to 4 days (probably more) I will be bumping this thread.

In the interim I would love to hear from other Pro-Ject users who have upgraded to the acryl-it.

Well, it has been here for about an hour now. Listening to Foreigner 4 (Atlantic records, 1981) since it is both well-recorded and is familiar to me making it easier to pick out any differences in the sound.

It is certainly an upgrade from the stock platter. (which doesn't even extend the full length of a 12" LP underneath...) Things I am hearing include less smearing of the high end and a somewhat extended soundstage. PRaT has not changed IMO.

I'd recommend this platter for anyone still using their stock one.

I've got one of the old Iron Audio ones, and I like that quite a bit. It replaces the mat, but it's about 1/4" thick. Sounds better (more detail, bass is more solid) than the original Thorens mat.

rooster.

Very interesting, keep us updated as you live with it for awhile. :thmbsp:

Will do, Divotdog! So far, like I say, the treble is most improved in my system. For example, the cymbals on Riders On the Storm are much more realistic and coherent sounding.

Also, it just looks much nicer than the generic-looking stock platter on this table.

Zenith,
I can't quite tell...is that a silver Debut? Or do they make a white one?

Regardless of how it sounds, it looks great.

Thanks! It is a silver Debut 3. Not sure if they make a white one.

Nice!! Looks sharp. It reminds me of on of the Marantz models by clearaudio!

Yes, very nice. I may get a black one to replace my Xpression III. I don't like the grey finish. BUT, we are going to build a 2nd system for the living room...Debut will go there. I'm not sure what I'll move up to from the Xpression...Rega or Clearaudio or ?
