Does anyone know if the c-56 dorians came in more than one configuration? Also would anyone have a pic of the tweeter hiding behind that little mesh screen? Found a pair of these in bad shape, the woofers are right, but not sure about the tweeters. Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance.

Yes, the cabinets (C56 Dorian) were sold with different configurations. Look here.. (http://www.lansingheritage.org/html/jbl/catalogs/1969-home.htm) It sounds like it's a S1 configuration.

Behind the perforated screen (also know known as "potato mashers") is a LE175DLH compression driver/horn.

The LE14A will need the Lansalloy surrounds replaced with foam.

They aren't a superb sounding system... but the parts are highly prized and can sound great when configured properly.. It's a SUPERB candidate for selling the LE175DLH off and making the remains an econowave project...

If they are in beat up cabs, I wouldn't go more than a couple hundred...

Also would anyone have a pic of the tweeter hiding behind that little mesh screen?Sounds more like the LE20 than the LE175DLH with the perforated metal discs. That would tend to indicate the 032 load with the D123 woofer.

If it's a 032 loaded cabinet.. negate what I said... re-reading the OP, I think BMWCCA may be right..

Still valuable components, but not anywhere near as valuable.. I am not a LE20 fan but the D123 is a cool driver although it might need subwoofer support... It produces very nice midbass!

Actually on these things the tweet looks like big silver bullet. no paper cone on these

the woofers are right, but the tweeeter is an 075, is that the right config. for these cabinets?

the woofers are right, but the tweeeter is an 075, Umm, so which woofer does it have? None of the configurations in the link above show an option with the 075 which usually is paired with a 15" JBL woofer. But nothing prevented people from buying the empty box and populating it with anything they wanted to.

So what crossover does it have? That should be easy to identify. :dunno:

The woofers are JBL D-130, Tweeters are JBL -075 ill find out crossover tonight. So i guess they are worth 35.00 one woofer has a hole in it and the cabinets are in bad shape and painted black

Well, there you go, they are 030 systems with N2400 crossovers, very likely, discussed many times here....

Definitely worth $35 (if that doesn't get your thread relocated). Never seen the D130 in that cabinet before. I think it likes a bigger box but even then it's originally a full-range speaker and doesn't have a lot of low-end extension. I've only had mine for 50 years. And I still like them. They love to play strings as long as you don't need gut-kicking bass. :thmbsp:

Are you sure you've got a C56 cabinet, not C36 Viscounts? That would seem to be a tight fit for a D130. Do they have a marble slab on top?

Pictures are always helpful.

The woofers are not "right."

030 is not a recommended load for C56 in my 1968 catalog; LE14A was the largest woofer recommended for that cab at the time....

Yeah, and I'm still trying to figure out what the heck the OP meant when he said, "...the tweeter hiding behind that little mesh screen" in the original post that somehow turned into a ring-radiator.

Yes i will grab them, if they are worth restoring. They are definitely c-56 dorians with the marble tops. And in all the pics i found theres a screen over the tweeter, so i couldnt see what it was. These are in very bad shape, looks like bottom of cabinet was wet at one time. 1 woofer has a (large) hole in it. (question ) for zilch. Are the recone kits readily available for these or would parting them out make better sense. Ashame someone would let these go to waste like this. Even the grills are trashed.

[Somebody may give you $35 for the basket.... ]

Cool, thanks for the info. They may be restorable, but would be quite a challenge. Not very much to work with. pics coming for more input. Thanks everybody

That's no friend or even a frenemy... :(
