The 1969 Expansion Team Montreal Expos are no more, after they where sold to the city of Washington to create the Washington Senators.
As an odd fact Washington has had 2 franchises before this one and both where lost due to the same reasons the Expos are leaving (attendance & performance)
1892-1960 = Senators (World Series Win in 1924)
Team Relocates Becoming The Minnesota Twins
1961-1971 = Senators
Team Relocates Becoming The Texas Rangers
Its Sad, to see them go.
I just hope Washington has better luck this time around!!

Before the Senators return to DC, I understand there's the $mall matter of the fact that apparently the Rangers (ex-Senators) still OWN the trademark "Washington Senators". As in, "Cough harder, your wallet's still got too much ca$h".:smsex:

I heard Dan Patrick suggest on ESPN Radio today that they should call the new team the Washington Grays, after the Negro League team that was in D.C. with Buck Leonard and Josh Gibson called the Homestead Grays.Lets face it,the Senators sucked most of the time. What was the old saying about them?
Washington:
First in War
First in Peace
And last in the American League

OK. How about the DC Wall-warts? OR, if true to form, just the DC Losers, as you will have the same team Montreal loved to ignore.:o

Its sad to see the Expos are no more. I'm not that interested in baseball but when I was a kid this was our team, because they were Canadian. And Rusty Stobb was our hero, he'd come to the plate and many times smack a home run. It would have been nice to see them move to Vancouver instead of Washington. It would give us Western Canadians a team to cheer for instead of Toronto (we don't like to support the east unless we have to).

Whats amazing about the Expos,is that for a team thats never been to the World Series, they have a legacy of players thats amazing-Rusty Staub,Ken Singleton,Gary Carter,Larry Parrish,Andre Dawson,Tim Raines,Jeff Reardon,Andres Gallaraga,Randy Johnson,Marquis Grissom,Larry Walker,Moises Alou,Cliff Floyd,Pedro Martinez,Vlad Guerrero,Jose Vidro, and countless others. No wonder they got the nickname "the University of Montreal"since so many players came out of their system to star on other teams.
